Big Red blitz Fighting Scots

Box Score

Just 15 hours after Denison's grueling overtime victory over Kenyon on Friday night, the Big Red returned to the hardwood and wasted little time dispatching the The College of Wooster, 66-38 from Timken Gymnasium.

The victory runs DU's winning streak to six and improves its overall record to 10-3.  With the win, the Big Red moves to 3-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Denison led the Fighting Scots 25-18 at halftime.  In the second period DU came out with guns blazing, outscoring the home team 21-7 in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.  During that run, point guard Serafina Nuzzo dialed up a pair of 3-point field goals and junior Nicole Coggins also knocked down a 3-pointer of her own to push her team's lead to 21 points.

Nuzzo led all scorers for the second-straight game with 19 points.  She also dished out five assists and turned in three steals.  First-year guard Alyx Ingram scored 12 points and sophomore post Jane Windler added nine rebounds.  Junior guard Kyli Parker chipped in 10 points off the bench to round out Denison's leaders.

For Wooster, Jessica Wingen tallied 15 points and Samantha Sulzer followed with 12 points. The Fighting Scots shot 31 percent from the field and were 4-of-6 from the free throw line. They committed 26 turnovers that were turned into 24 points by the Big Red.

Denison shot 37 percent from the field but were 17-of-24 (.708) from the charity stripe.  The Big Red outrebounded Wooster 43-36 and the DU bench outscored Wooster's 28-5.

Denison returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 14) at 6 p.m. against Ohio Wesleyan in Granville, Ohio.
