Box Score Three first half goals by the Big Red offense combined with some sparkling play by the DU defense in the second half has Denison off to its best start since the 1980 season after a 3-0 win over The College of Wooster.
The Big Red offense was hitting on all cylinders early, scoring all three goals in the first 21 minutes of the contest.  Hilary Zdanowski got things going in the third minute when she controlled a loose ball in front of the cage.  Zdanowski would fire a shot that sailed by Wooster goalie Liz Plumley, giving her squad a 1-0 lead.
In the 14th minute Zdanowski would strike again.  This time it was senior Caroline Kasper who threaded a nice pass into the shooting circle where Zdanowski was there with the one-timer that resulted in her third goal of the season, and Denison's second goal of the day.
Just over six minutes later the Big Red would take a three goal lead when sophomore defender Karla Dixon sent a pass from the left wing to Tonie Michaels who stopped the ball, got set and drove home her third goal of 2011.
From there it was the Denison defense, led by some outstanding play from first-year Tara Pesman and senior Kelsey Flowers, which thwarted any potential Fighting Scot comeback.  In the second half Wooster outshot DU 9-3 and put the pressure on Denison early in the period.  Two of Denison goalie Brittany Benson's three saves would come in the second half.
Zdanowski paced Denison with four shots and two goals.  Katie McMahon took three shots and Alex B. Berman took two shot attempts.  Wooster was led in shots by Anna Divis' five.
At 6-0 the Big Red is off to its best start since the 1980 Big Red team started the season 8-0.  In North Coast Athletic Conference play DU improves to 3-0 while Wooster drops to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC.
