Box Score The Denison offense erupted for 15 first-half goals on Wednesday night en route to an 18-5 victory over Oberlin College. The win kept DU unbeaten and in first place in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings at 3-0 while improving their overall record to 6-4.
The Big Red got another impressive outing from senior middie Lulu Carter. After missing five games with an injury, Carter's return has helped DU to a three-game winning streak over conference foe's, Wittenberg, Ohio Wesleyan and Oberlin. Against the Yeowomen, Carter enjoyed one of the finest games of her career by scoring five goals and one assist to go along with five ground balls and six caused turnovers. Carter's six caused turnovers broke the Denison single-game record which was five, set by Molly Lamdin in 2003.
DU utilized a seven-goal run over the course of 13 minutes in the first half to blow the game wide open. Trailing Carter in the scoring column was senior Jenny Strathern who finished with four goals off only five shots. Molly Cornbrooks scored three goals on just three shot attempts and Phoebe Myhrum tallied two goals and one assist.
Overall, Denison outshot Oberlin 30-13 while forcing the Yeowomen to commit 17 turnovers.
The Big Red will look to keep their winning streak alive on Saturday (April 9) when they travel to Allegheny for an 11 a.m. contest with the Gators.
