Through 27 of 54 holes the Denison men's golf team sits in third place at the 2011 Hiram Invitational from Fowlers Mill Golf Course in Chesterland. Sunday's final 27-hole round will close out the 90-hole North Coast Athletic Conference Championship series.
The Big Red finished Saturday's round and a half with a total of 465. After firing a 321 on the first 18-holes, the Big Red continued to heat up as the tempratures rose over the final nine holes of play. DU was led by senior Kyle Bates who carded an 80 on the first 18 and returned with a 35 on the last nine-hole round of the day. Bates is tied for seventh in the individual standings.
Aaron Klimchuk led DU in the first round with a 79. He came in with a 38 on holes 19 through 27. Denison's scores are rounded out by Sam Kaiser at 117 (82;35), Dylan Lee at 119 (83;36), and Jeff Maier (80;40).
