Denison had three players shoot 74 or better in the final round of the Ted Barclay Spring Invitational from Granville Golf Course. As a team, DU placed seventh out of 13 teams at the tournament with a two-day total of 611.
The Big Red were led for the second-straight day by Jeff Maier who followed up Saturday's career-low round of 75 with a 1-over par, 72 which tied him for the third lowest round of the day. Maier posted 11 pars and birdies on the par 4 11th and the par 3 17th en route to his round. Maier's 36-hole total of 147 placed him fourth overall out of the field of 77 golfers.
Following Maier with a pair of 74s was senior Kyle Bates and first-year Aaron Klimchuk. Bates followed his 1-over 36 on the front with a 2-over 38 on the back nine. His lone birdie came on the par-4 13th. Klimchuk's round included birdies on No. 1 and No. 15. After his 3-over 38 on the front he played the final nine holes at even par.
Rounding out Denison's scoring on Sunday was Dylan Lee who posted an 81 for a two-day score of 160.
The team championship went to Ohio Wesleyan who totaled a 588 led by Nate Fridley's rounds of 71 and 69. Mount Union Followed in second-place with a 593 and Otterbein placed third with 603. Fridley earned the individual medalist honors by defeating Mount Union's Scott Miller in a playoff.
The Big Red will return to action next weekend at the Strimer Memorial Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
