Box Score Rachel Johnson scored four goals and Stacey Birlson added three goals as Adrian College handed the Denison Big Red their first loss of the season, 16-6, from Adrian, Mich.
The Bulldogs took a commanding 11-0 lead after one half of play, essentially putting to rest any thoughts of a Big Red comeback in the second half.
Denison did get into the scoring column eight minutes into the second half of play when Katherine Palms scored her seventh goal of the season, breaking a 12 unanswered goal streak by the home team. DU would go on to add five more scores in the second half and all five goals would come from five different players.
Palms led the Big Red with one goal, one assist and four draw controls. Olivia Shiland scored one goal on her only shot and she tied with Carly Tschantz for the team-lead with three ground balls. Tschantz also contributed four draws for the Big Red.
DU goalies Grace Bodenmann and Laura Campbell split time in goal. Bodenmann was the starter and notched three saves while facing 21 shots in the first half. Campbell also added three saves while facing eight shots over the final 30 minutes of action.
Denison will return to action on Thursday (March 17) when the Big Red will travel to Whittier, Calif for a clash with the Poets. The opening draw will be taken at 10 p.m. eastern and 7 p.m. pacific.
