Box Score Wooster's Amanda Artman scored twice to become the North Coast Athletic Conference's all-time leading scorer and after a 94 minute delay due to lightning the Fighting Scots handed Denison a 2-1 loss on Tuesday at John P. Papp Stadium.
The two teams played the first half scoreless but just over two minutes into the second half the Big Red got on the scoreboard when sophomore Catie Merrick (Owings Mills, Md./Garrison Forest) scored her fourth goal of the season by backhanding a cross via a penalty corner attempt.
Four minutes later Wooster would score off their own penalty corner attempt when Stephanie Standera found Artman, tying the match at 1-1.  Minutes after the Scots tied things up the weather reared its ugly head, resulting in a 94 minute delay due to lightning.
Just 77 seconds after the restart Wooster's Eileen Barrer sent a shot on-goal that was deflected by the Denison defense.  Unfortunately for the Big Red, Artman was there to clean up the deflection resulting in the eventual game-winner.
The Scots edged Denison in shots, 14-10 and finished with 11 penalty corner attempts to Denison's six.  Scot goalie Liz Pumley posted seven saves while DU's Brittany Benson (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) turned in four saves. Brooke Donovan (Westport, Conn./Staples) and Katie McMahon (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) led Denison with three shots apiece.
Denison (1-2) will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 11) when they taken on Rhodes at Centre College in Danville, Ky.
