Denison takes second at Kenyon Fall Invitational

The Denison University men's golf team carded a 640 at the Kenyon Fall Invitational this weekend.  The Big Red finished the two-day tournament in second place, just two strokes behind Division II Gannon University.

Senior Kyle Bates (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) led the Big Red with a season-low 154.  Bates followed up his two-over par 74 performance from day one with a 77 to finish second in the 30-man field.  Rookie Dylan Lee (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) turned in another solid outing with a 158 (77-81) to land in fourth place.  Sam Kaiser (Zionsville, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prepatory) and Andrew Smith (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School) both finished tied for 12th with a 166 to round out the DU scoring.  Kaiser shot an 85 on day two, while Smith logged a pair of 83s over the two-day tourney.

After turning in the third-best score on day one of the invitational, the Big Red shot an impressive 326 to lead the six-team field on the final day.

Denison closes out their fall schedule next weekend when they take part in the Muskingum Fall Invitational.  The two-day tournament begins on Sunday (Oct. 3).
