No. 14 Denison blanks Otterbein

Sixteen different players got in the scoring act for Denison as they rolled to a 23-0 win over visiting Otterbein College on Tuesday night from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.  The victory improves No. 14 Denison's record to 10-3 and sets them up for a regular season finale with No. 1 Stevenson this Saturday (May 1) in Stevenson, Md.

Denison outshot the Cardinals 46-4 and scored six goals in the opening quarter.  Sophomore Davis Lukens (Marietta, Ga./Holy Innocents') led Denison with three goals off three shots.  Junior attack Emmett Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) scored twice and is just four goals shy of becoming the 12th player in Denison history to score 100 career goals.

Four other players had multi-goal games for DU.  They were Kyle Brown (Glenview, Ill./New Trier), Alex Hardt (Dallas, Texas/Episcopal), Colin Molloy (Stamford, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and Craig Loeber (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day School).  Sophomore attack Cory Couture (San Diego, Calif./Coronado) scored one goal but led the team with three assists.

Denison's extra-man unit checked into the game ranked third in Division III with 44 percent success rate.  That improved slightly after going 2-for-4 in extra-man situations against the Cardinals.

Connor Detjen (Winnetka, Ill./Loyola Academy) was 8-for-12 facing off and finished with a team-high seven ground balls.  Patrick Cuff (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) played 25 minutes in goal and recorded a team-high three saves.

Otterbein goalie Adam Hatchard turned in nine saves while playing all 60 minutes.
