Frank Earns Newcomer of the Year, Nine Big Red Tally All-Conference Honors

Cleveland, Ohio - The North Coast Athletic Conference has recently released their all-conference selections, and nine Big Red have been recognized. First-year Jonah Frank earned Newcomer of the Year, and five were named first team All-NCAC for their work on the turf.

First Team

Brady Monturio (Attack | Junior | Weymouth, Mass.) - Monturio earns his first All-NCAC nod, landing first team honors after being the forefront of the Big Red offensive attack. The junior led the Big Red in assists with 36 and points with 64, scoring 28 goals on the season as well. Monturio ranked second in the conference in total assists and assists per game (2.12), and had a 64.4% shot on goal percentage. Throughout the season, he had five games of three or more goals, and had a career-high in points and assists against Wabash, dishing off seven assists and totaling 10 points.

Charlie Haight (Defense | Junior | Portland, Ore.) - Haight returns to the first team All-NCAC list for a second consecutive year after excelling on the defensive end. The junior started in all 17 games, and was third on the team in ground balls with 36, and was tied second with 20 caused turnovers. He recorded 14 games with a caused turnover, with four of them being multiple, and had 11 games of multiple ground balls.

Colin Swanson (LSM | Sophomore | Evanston, Ill.) - Swanson notches his first All-NCAC selection of his career, earning first team honors at the long stick midfielder position. The sophomore was fourth on the team in ground balls with 34, and recorded 10 caused turnovers to help pace the Denison defense. On the offensive end, he netted four goals and dished off an assist for a total of five points. Swanson had a 36.4% shot percentage, and was 45.5% on shots on goal.

AJ Boxler (SSDM | Senior | Westport, Mass.) - His second consecutive first team honor, Boxler captures first team recognition in the short stick defensive midfielder spot. The senior scooped up 24 ground balls and had five caused turnovers, proving to be a factor on the defensive end. He also scored three goals and had two assists on the offensive side of the field. 

Andrew Albert (Goalie | Senior | Weston, Conn.) - The three-time All-NCAC recipient notches his second consecutive first team All-NCAC honor after a solid year in the cage. Albert started all 17 games, and was second in the conference in goals against (139) and goals against average (9.04). He tallied 173 saves, and was second in the conference in save percentage at .554, and had an average of 10.2 saves per game. Albert would also pick up 31 ground balls on the season as well.

Second Team

Jonah Frank (Attack | First-Year | Naperville, Ill. | Newcomer of the Year ) - First-Year Jonah Frank has earned Newcomer of the Year honors as well as second team All-NCAC recognition after an impressive rookie campaign. Frank was second on the team and ninth in the conference in goals with 30, and also dished off 15 assists for 45 points, which was third on the Big Red. He recorded six hat tricks throughout the season, and had 59.8% on shots on goal. In addition, Frank also had 30 ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Michael Cassidy (Midfield | Senior | Lake Bluff, Ill.) - Cassidy notches his first all-conference honor after a solid year both offensively and defensively. He was fourth on the squad in goals with 26 and fifth in points with 32. Cassidy started and played in 14 games, and had eight multi-goal games, including a five goal outing against Wabash. In addition, he also had six assists and 16 ground balls on the season. 

Jack Moellering (Midfield | Junior | Glen Ellyn, Ill.) - Sophomore Jack Moellering lands on second team All-NCAC after being a key distributor on the offensive end this season. Moellering was second on the Big Red in assists with 18, and also scored 15 goals for 33 points. He had a 55% shot on goal percentage, and also scooped up 12 ground balls as well. Moellering would also notch two games scoring four goals, both against ranked opponents.

Third Team

Luca Avelino (Defense | First-Year | Summit, N.J.) - First-year Luca Avelino earned his first career all-conference nod after being a force on defense for Denison. He led the team in caused turnovers and was fourth in the conference with 28 and had 1.87 caused turnovers per game. He had five games of multiple caused turnovers, with three of them being five or more. He had an eight caused turnover game against Wooster, the most out of anyone on the team for the season. In addition, he also picked up 24 ground balls.

The Big Red finished their season 8-9 overall and 6-2 in conference play, securing a five-way tie as co-champions of the NCAC.
