13 first half goals leads Denison past Oberlin

The Big Red opened the game with nine straight goals and 10 players got in the scoring act as Denison rolled to a 20-3 victory over Oberlin College on Tuesday night from Granville, Ohio.

Denison got a career-high four goals from Lulu Carter (Greenwich, Conn./The Millbrook School) and three goals from Phoebe Myhrum (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and Jenny Strathern (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) in the win.  The Big Red racked up 37 shots while holding the Yeowomen to just 10 scoring chances.  They took 17 of 25 draws and posted 20 ground balls on the night.

Defensively, DU forced Oberlin into 12 of their 21 turnovers as Jackie Pachuta (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and Bethany Keller (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) led the home team with two caused turnovers apiece.  Keller also led the team in ground balls with four.

Denison goalies Hannah Minifie (Dalton, Mass./Miss Hall's School) and Grace Bodenmann (Pelham Manor, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) split time in goal.  Minifie got the win while Bodenmann posted two saves.

Oberlin was led in scoring by Grace Amber who scored two goals.  Madeleine O'Meara had nine saves in the cage for the Yeowomen.  Denison improves to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with the victory.  Oberlin drops to 3-7 and 0-3 in the NCAC.
