The Denison men's tennis team rebounded from their first loss of the season on Friday night with a 9-0 victory over North Coast Athletic Conference foe Earlham College on Saturday in Richmond, Ind.
Sophomores Tom Cawood (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and Matt McErlean (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) paced the Big Red with victories at first and second singles, respectively. Cawood defeated the Quakers Brad Maisey 6-3, 6-3, while McErlean improved to 8-0 at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Nabil Parkar. Also picking up singles wins for DU were Adam Seeley (West Hartford, Conn./William H. Hall), Tim Martin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park & River Forest), Jack Adam (Kettering, Ohio/Miami Valley) and Chase Curtis (Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham), who won his first-career match 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles action, Martin and McErlean knocked off Maisey and Parkar 8-6 at the first flight, while Cawood and Seeley won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. In the third doubles match, Curtis and Adam edged Johnny Kauffman and George Bouchard, 9-7.
Denison improves to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Big Red returns to the court on Tuesday (March 30) when they host Wittenberg at 4 p.m.
