The Denison men's golf team concluded their 2010 fall season with a second-place finish at the Muskingum University Fall Inivitational at EagleSticks Golf Club in Zanesville, Ohio. The Big Red fired a 318 on the second day en route to a 620 team total.
Denison was paced by sophomore Sam Kaiser (Zionsville, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prepatory) and freshman Andrew Smith (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School) who shot identical 154s (75-79) to finish in a tie for third place. Rookie Dylan Lee (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) was tied for sixth after turning in a 156 (79-77), while first-year Aaron Klimchuk (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) rounded out the DU scoring with his 157 (74-83), which landed him in a tie for ninth place.
Also competing for the Big Red were senior Kyle Bates (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake), and freshmen Ben Whitman (Baltimore, Md./Boys Latin) and Matt Flickinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair). Bates carded a 161 (78-83), while Whittman and Flickinger shot a 163 (79-84) and 179 (92-87), respectively.
The Denison men's golf team will return to action in the spring of 2011.
