Katherine Hueter recorded a double-double with 29 points and 14 rebounds as Wittenberg University handed the Denison University women's basketball team their first North Coast Athletic Conference loss of the season. The Tigers defeated the Big Red 79-58 on Tuesday evening in Granville.
Denison struggled all night from the floor connecting on just 31 percent (21-of-68) of their shots and were outrebounded 53-40. Sophomore Christina Myers (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) paced the Big Red with a career-high 20 points and eight rebounds. First-year point guard Serafina Nuzzo (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick) chipped in 13 points, while Jessica Gryzbowski (Parma, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) pulled down nine boards.
In addition to her 29 points and 14 rebounds, Hueter added five assists in 32 minutes of action. Stephanie Boardman recorded 22 points and nine boards, while Carrie Dyer chipped in 11 tallies.
Denison falls to 10-2 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC, while the Tigers improve to 5-6 on the year and 3-0 in the conference. DU returns to action on Friday (Jan. 8) when they host the College of Wooster. Tip-off at Livingston Gymnasium is slated for 7:30 p.m.
