5/14/2026 1:49:00 PM

Chattanooga, Tenn. - The No. 4 Denison men's tennis team will travel South to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals hosted at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It will be Denison's third-consecutive trip in the Elite Eight, and won the program's first national title last season.

For the third time this season and seventh in the past three years, Denison will take on No. 5 Case Western Reserve University in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, a rematch of last year's national championship match. The two squads split the regular season series, with the Spartans winning the third place match of the ITA Indoor Championships 4-3, but the Big Red would bounce back later in the year, defeating CWRU 4-1 to even up the series. Now, they meet again in the biggest stage of the season.

The new kids on the block, both teams have had major success as of late, with CWRU winning the national championship in 2023, and Denison in 2025. The Spartans have been to the championship match four of the last six seasons, and defeated Denison on their way to their national title. Denison leads the all-time series 23-9, with their first matchup coming in 1985.

Others heading down to Chattanooga include Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Emory, Bowdoin, UChicago, Tufts, and Swarthmore.

Two Big Red were selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament Individual Championships for Singles and Doubles, as seniors Kael Shah and Ethan Green will compete in both categories. Shah ranks fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, while Green ranks 13th. The duo ranks 3rd in the country in doubles. Shah advanced all the way to the finals last season and finished as runner-up to Advik Mareedu of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

The Big Red and Spartans square off at 11 am on Tuesday, May 19, with the semifinals coming on the 20th, and the national championship on Friday.
