5/12/2026 3:10:00 PM

Marshall, Texas - The Denison softball team heard their name called on Monday in the selection show for the NCAA Tournament and will head down to Marshall, Texas to take on East Texas Baptist in the double-elimination bracket on Thursday, May 14.

Denison, now 20-19, secured the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after a walk-off win in the NCAC Tournament Championship game against Wittenberg 4-3. Denison went 3-0 in the conference tourney, defeating the top-seeded Tigers in two of those games to advance for the first time since 2012. It will be Denison's seventh appearance in the big dance, and have a record of 9-12 in postseason play.

The host East Texas Baptist comes into the tournament with a 37-4 record. The Tigers clinched the ASC automatic bid after going 3-0 in the conference tourney and a championship win against Mary Hardin-Baylor 8-0 (6 inn.). Both of these teams are no strangers to each other, as they played earlier in the season at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia, where the Tigers prevailed in a 4-0 victory over the Big Red. It will be the Tigers 13th consecutive appearance and 19th overall, and are two-time national champions (2010, 2024).

Other two teams competing are Rowan (36-8) and St. Thomas (30-10). Rowan claimed the NJAC automatic bid, while St. Thomas comes in as an at-large bid.

Denison will square off against East Texas Baptist at 12 pm, while Rowan and St. Thomas will follow after with a 2:30 pm start. Friday will feature the winners bracket game first at 12 pm, with the losers bracket contest coming at 2:30 pm and 5 pm. The championship game will come on Saturday at 12 pm, with a game if necessary to be played directly after at 2:30 pm.
