Men’s Track and Field Place Third at Marv Frye Invitational

Delaware, Ohio - In their second outdoor meet of the season, the Denison men's track and field finished third at the Marv Frye Invitational after multiple first place finishes. The Big Red finished with 125 points, and had first place finishes in discus, steeplechase, 1500-meter run, and 4x400 relay. The Big Red finished behind two NCAC foes Wittenberg and Ohio Wesleyan, with the Tigers finishing second with 134 points, and the host Bishops first with 152.

Sprints/Distance

Oliver DiCerbo kept up his impressive outdoor season with a win in the 1500-meter run, posting a time of 4:09.35 for 10 points. In the steeplechase, four Big Red placed first through fourth, with Hudson Jones nabbing first place with a time of 10:43.52, Rosario Scarato second (10:57.24), Cole Clodgo third (11:06.69), and Drew Carpenter fourth (11:19.35). The quartet picked up a combined 29 points for Denison. 

Felix Martin posted an eighth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles for one point and a time of 15.99. In the 400-meter dash, Jack Meyerowitz and Wilson White finished fifth and sixth, grabbing a total of seven points. Meyerowitz finished fifth with a time of 50.73, while White finished sixth in 50.74. Another pair of Big Red placed fifth and sixth, respectively, as Jake McCann finished fifth with a time of 10.75, and Caleb Zell- Ratner finished sixth just .01 seconds behind McCann for a time of 10.76. In the 800-meter dash, Leo Wisnefski finished with a time of 2:00.06 for sixth place and three points, and Martin finished his day nabbing a point in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.17. 

In the relays, Jake McCann, Jason Rideout, Zion Edwards, Wilson White won the 4x400 with a time of 3:24.53. Jake Mason, Jake McCann, Pierce Patterson, and Caleb Zell- Ratner placed second for eight points in the 4x100 with a time of 42.15.

Field

Reed Nobili won the discus event with a throw of 41.25m on his second throw, giving the Big Red 10 points. Samuel Pfitzenmayer earned a point as well in discus, scoring a 36.20m for an eighth place finish. Justin King picked up three points in shot put, throwing for a mark of 13.49m for sixth place. Felix Martin posted an eighth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles for one point and a time of 15.99. Jonathan Westfall placed fifth in javelin with a throw of 41.13m on his first attempt for his second meet of the season.

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison travels to Cleveland, Tennessee next week to compete in the Fast Break Athletics Invitational hosted by Lee University on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11.
