Denison Hosts Big Red Invitational and Celebrate Senior Day

Granville, Ohio - Emily Brennan and Sydney Flores won their respective events to highlight the day for Denison as they hosted the Big Red Invitational on Senior Day before gearing up for the NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The meet featured six teams: Denison, Kenyon, Oberlin, Ohio Dominican, Ohio Wesleyan, and Wooster as they all prepared for last chance marks before prepping for conference.

Senior Emily Brennan won the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 25.27. In the 100-meter dash, first-year Stevie Combs placed third with a time of 12.34.

Multiple Denison athletes completed top-three finishes around the track, as juniors Piper Lee (second,1:01.42) and Abby McChesney (third, 1:05.69) were top finishers in the 400-meter dash. Junior Ava Sinex finished second with a time of 1:09.48 in the 400-meter hurdles.

In distance, first-year Amelia Anderson placed second with a time of 5:09.81 in the 1500-meter run, and sophomore Lauren Perretta finished second as well in 12:43.70 in the 3k run.

The relay team of Piper Lee, McChesney, Sinex, and Norah O'Malley won the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:15.35. The 4x100 quartet of Brennan, Combs, Mira Renaldi, and Ryan Singer finished second in 47.47.

Sydney Flores won the discus event with a toss of 43.69 for a new personal-best. In the high jump, junior Rose Bohlsen placed third with a jump of 1.31m, and first-year Sydney Smith finished second in the long jump (4.44m). O'Malley also had a top-three finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.31m.

Two Big Red placed in the top-three in shot put, as Flores was second (12.57m) and first-year Gabrielle Turner (12.27m) finished third. In the hammer, junior Mariel Drost placed second with a toss of 42.85m. In the javelin, first-year Hannah Grudzien placed second after throwing for a mark of 34.35m.
