Denison Celebrates Senior Day Hosting Big Red Invitational

Granville, Ohio - The Denison men's track and field team had multiple winners, including Jake McCann and Pierce Patterson in the 200 and 400 in the last stretch before the NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships commence next week. Denison, Kenyon, Oberlin, Ohio Dominican, Ohio Wesleyan, and Wooster all competed in the invitational as they all geared up for postseason action soon.

Sophomore Jake McCann won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.77, a new personal-best. Junior Pierce Patterson followed suit in the 400-meter dash, winning the event in a time of 50.40. First-year Elias Vail finished second in the event with a time of 52.00. Fellow first-year Felix Martin won the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 57.81 as the only representative in the field for the Big Red.

In the 800-meter run, first-year Zion Edwards placed second with a time of 1:57.35, and junior Leo Wisnefski finished third in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:03.24. In the 110-meter hurdles, first-year Wade Nguyen placed second in a time of 16.06, and first-year Will Jackson finished second as well in the 3k run with a time of 9:01.09.

In the relays, the Denison 4x400 team consisting of Patterson, Jason Rideout, Edwards, and Wilson White won the event with a time of 3:28.70.

Junior Justin King posted a new personal-best in the shot put, as he won the event with a toss of 14.74m. In the hammer, first-year Samuel Pfitzenmayer finished third, throwing for a mark of 44.20m. Sophomore Joe Teates finished with the second-highest mark in the pole vault, jumping for a mark of 3.84m.

In javelin, Jonathan Westfall finished second with a season-best of 49.87m to wrap up his regular season.
