Women’s Track and Field Post Strong Showings at Kenyon and Indiana State

Terre Haute, Ind. | Gambier, Ohio - Sydney Flores posted two top-three events, including winning the shot put, to pace the Big Red as they competed across the Midwest at Kenyon and Indiana State. Senior Emi Brennan posted a top-10 finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State, competing against numerous Division I athletes.

Duane Gomez Invitational

Distance/Sprints

First-year Hanna Hack captured two points in the 1500-meter run, posting a time of 4:51.10. Marisa Bianchi clocked in a time of 20.21 in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.21, and Evie Sparks finished the 400-meter dash in 1:06.79 for ninth. First-year Arialyn Bischak finished eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.46, and first-year Ryan Singer finished eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.94.

Field

Sydney Flores won the shot put event on her final throw, throwing for a personal-best mark of 12.74m for five points. Flores also placed third for two points in discus with a toss of 41.33m on her first throw. First-year Gabrielle Turner placed third in shot put with a throw of 12.31m in her last toss to gain two points. In the long jump, sophomore Julia Schena earned fifth place after a jump of 5.19m on her second jump. Junior Mariel Drost placed fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 40.99m on her second throw for two points, and junior Rose Bohlsen jumped for 1.36m in the high jump for a 10th place finish.

Gibson Invitational (Indiana State)

Sophomore Mira Renaldi set a new personal-best in the 100-meter hurdles after a time of 14.76 amongst multiple Division I and II opponents. Senior Emily Brennan continued her strong run from last week at the Fast Break Invitational in the 400-meter hurdles, completing a top-10 showing for a time of 1:03.83. First-year Stevie Combs finished 25th out of 58 competitors in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 12.43. Combs and Renaldi would also compete in the 200-meter dash, with Combs posting a time of 25.90, and Renaldi 26.96.

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison will host the Big Red Invitational next Friday, April 24 and the NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Combined Events Championships from April 25-26.
