Denison Finishes Day Two of Fast Break Invitational With Top-Three Finishes

Cleveland, Tenn. - The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams posted second-place finishes, while junior Jonathan Westfall followed suit with a second-place finish in javelin to highlight day two of the Fast Break Invitational hosted by Lee University. Numerous Big Red posted personal-best in a loaded field, where Denison gained notable experience across all divisions.

Sprints/Distance

First-years Wade Nguyen and Felix Martin each earned points in the 110-meter hurdles, as Ngyuen finished fifth with a time of 15.61, and Martin seventh (16.18). Jake Mason finished the highest in the 100-meter dash, recording a time of 11.03 for a 14th place finish. In the 400-meter dash, Jack Meyerowitz posted a personal-best time of 49.85 for 11th place. First-year Elias Vail also posted a personal-best (51.11). Zion Edwards finished first out of eight Big Red in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 1:56.56, a new personal-best. First-year Will Jackson finished 35th (32:17.22) in the 10k, while Noah Cyr completed a new personal-best time of 33:03.67 for 47th.

In the relays, both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays recorded second-place finishes and season-bests. Jake Mason, Jake McCann, Jack Meyerowitz, and Caleb Zell- Ratner finished with a time of 41.47 in the 4x100, while Meyerowitz, Zell-Ratner, McCann, and Wilson White posted a time of 3:20.34.

Field

The Big Red scored points in all three field events on Saturday. In the javelin, Jonathan Westfall posted a second-place mark of 48.41m to grab eight points for the Big Red. Eric Ott claimed a top-five finish in the triple jump, leaping for a mark of 13.34m and fourth-place. In the discus throw, Reed Nobili finished sixth with a toss of 41.35m to garner points, while first-year Samuel Pfitzenmayer (38.33m) and sophomore Leo Koch (38.27m) finished 12th and 13th, respectively.
