Men’s Track and Field Start Outdoor Season at Home in Lid-Lifter

Granville, Ohio - In the start of the outdoor season for Denison, the Big Red flashed with some big performances, with some notching top-three finishes and personal-bests to kick off the Lid-Lifter at Denison. Multiple Big Red had big days, including Oliver DiCerbo, who had a personal-best to launch him to second place in the 5000-meter run. Denison competed against many competitive institutions, and left their mark to start the season.

Sprints/Distance

Oliver DiCerbo continued to impress in his long distance running, as the senior notched a second-place finish with a time of 15:35.95 and was also a personal-best. Also grabbing second-place was Wade Nguyen in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.37, and Zion Edwards in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:58.87. Felix Martin earned a top-five finish in the 100-meter hurdles as well, placing fifth with a time of 17.01. Wilson White also placed fifth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:00.32. In the 400-meter dash, Caleb Zell- Ratner grabbed fourth with a time of 51.33, while Jake McCann was not too far behind with a time of 52.09 for a sixth-place finish. Rounding out the sprints and distance was Leo Wisnefski, who placed fourth with a time of 4:05.71.

In the relays,  Jake McCann, Jason Rideout, Jake Mason, and Wade Nguyen placed third with a time of 3:33.89 for third place, and their fellow teammates Zion Edwards, William Fontana, Isaiah Irwin Evans, and Sebastian Klimchak placed fourth with a time of 3:34.80.

Field

Jonathan Westfall racked up a third-place finish in his first meet of the season, throwing for 49.85m in javelin to kick off his outdoor campaign. Justin King followed suit with a third-place finish of his own, throwing for a mark of 13.80m in the shot put. David Atlas had a fine showing in the long jump, notching fourth-place with a mark of 5.89m. In the discus, Reed Nobili capped his day with a seventh-place mark of 40.03m.

Up Next for the Big Red

Denison will make the short trip North to NCAC rival Ohio Wesleyan for the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday, April 4.
