Andreas Chapides and sophomore women's track and field athlete
Emery Kurth have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week after impressive performances this past weekend.
Senior
Andreas Chapides of the men's tennis team finished the weekend with a 2-0 record. In the first match of the weekend Chapides and sophomore
Nick Meyers beat Wooster's Lopes and Vanoyen 6-4 in the first position in doubles play. Later that day he would defeat Wabash's Augosto Ghidini 6-2, 6-0Â in the third flight in singles play to complete the weekend sweep. The Big Red will head out west to St. Louis, Missouri next Saturday, February 7 to take on Washington University at 6 p.m. eastern time.
Sophomore
Emery Kurth of the women's track and field team has been named the NCAC Women's Athlete of the Week. Kurth would participate in the Long Jump, and finished with a mark of 5.39 meters. She placed fourth out of 40 jumpers, and her marks are currently second in both the NCAC and in Denison program history. Denison track and field's next meet is Saturday, February 7, inside Mitchell Fieldhouse. The Big Red will host the Bob Shannon Invitational, with the field events starting at 11 a.m. and the running events starting at 1 p.m.
