Big Red Men's Swimming & Diving Record Numerous B-cuts and Personal Bests

Gambier, Ohio-  The Denison men's swimming and diving team closed out the regular season at Kenyon with the Owls First Chance and Fast Chance Invitational. Numerous lifetime bests and B-cuts were earned throughout the weekend, setting up the Big Red for a competitive run at the NCAA Division III Championships.

 

First Chance Invitational

Denison opened the weekend at Kenyon College with six lifetime bests throughout the First Chance Invitational. Joseph Keroack swam a 4:30.21 in the 500 Free, notching his first-ever B-cut time. In the 200 IM Devin Testin posted a time of 1:47.38 (B-cut), which was a lifetime best, and helped move him up from 12th in the national rankings to seventh. Luke Swiggett set a personal best in the 400 IM, swimming it in 3:53.46, moving him from 14th in the national rankings to 9th.

The Big Red continued to collect B-cuts throughout the day. In the 200 Fly, Max Lough swam a season-best time (1:47.98), earning him the ninth fastest time in the national rankings. First-year Talen Palmateer swam the 100 Breast in 54.60 (B-cut), a lifetime best. In the 1650 Free Ben Campbell swam a lifetime best 15:39.72, pushing him up the national rankings from 13th to ninth. Josh Thomas recorded a B-cut time of 54.96 in the 100 Breast, and in the 200 Back, Marshall Pifer swam a lifetime best 1:48.95.

 

Fast Chance Invitational

On the second day out in Gambier, Nick Hensel recorded his second-best 50 Free time after swimming it in 19.99 (B-cut). In the 400 IM, Mark Jacobi-Krohn swam a 3:58.65, a season best and a time that moved him up nine spots nationally. Though Lough didn't beat his best time of the season, he did record a B-cut finish in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:48.84.

In the 500 Free, Hunter Raymer finished in 4:31.24, his second B-cut in the event. Earning a personal best in the 50 Free time trials was Reid Richardson, who swam it in 21.36, just a second shy of the B-cut time. Recording a lifetime best in the 200 Free time trials was Asher Cole, with a time of 1:39.94. Fellow first-year Palmateer recorded a lifetime best in the 100 Breast time trial with a time of 54.79 (B-cut). Rounding out the lifetime best for the Big Red was Clay Perry, who swam the 100 Free in 46.14.

Denison's men's diving will be traveling to Kalamazoo, Mich., for the 2026 NCAA Diving Regionals hosted by Kalamazoo College on Friday, February 27.
