Springfield, Ohio- The Denison University women's track and field team finished ninth out of 21 teams at the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg University. Multiple Big Red had top-five finishes, and Shaylee Murdough and Mira Renaldi had big days, breaking two school records.
Sprints/Distance
The sprints were headlined by Mira Renaldi, who placed second for eight points with a time of 9.05 in the 60-meter hurdles. That time broke the previous school record, which was held by Renaldi and was set earlier in the season. Shaylee Murdough had a pair of top-10 finishes, scoring a point with an eighth-place finish for a time of 5:11.13 in the 1-mile run for a new school record, and finished 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.33. In the 5k run, Floralysse Biteau finished 21st with a time of 19:19.58. The Big Red picked up nine points in the sprints and distance categories.
Field Events
In shot put, Sydney Flores finished sixth-place with a mark of 12.24m for five points. In the long jump, Emery Kurth finished fourth with a mark of 5.39m for five points. Mariel Drost had a strong performance in the weight throw, placing 15th with a throw of 13.44m for a point. The Big Red captured 11 points to help for a ninth-place finish at the showcase.
