Granville, Ohio- The Liberty League announced this week's performers of the week, and both Juan Felipe Hernandez and Charlotte Jones were selected, respectively, for the men's and women's squash performers of the week. Joining Hernandez and Jones as an Honor Roll honoree was first-year Da'Nerah Chisholm of the women's team.
Across three matches, Hernandez gave up a total of 43 points and never dropped a game at the top spot during Denison's three-day weekend in Connecticut. He beat Haverford's Aaryaman Jaising 11-1, 11-0, 11-2 on Friday, and on Saturday, he battled with Henry Pelletier of Connecticut College, defeating him with a line score of 11-8, 11-7, 11-7. Hernandez wrapped the weekend with his third sweep of the weekend over Wesleyan's Dhairya Shah, beating them 11-4, 11-5, 11-9. He is now 8-2 for the season.
Just like her counterpart, Jones swept the weekend in Connecticut at the number one spot, giving up just 38 points throughout her three matches. On Friday, she faced Haverford's Joelle Phuah and beat her 11-3, 11-4, 11-3. Saturday, she took on Connecticut College's Kendry Sol Navas Perez and defeated her 11-8, 11-5, 11-4. To finish out the weekend, she defeated Wesleyan's Mira Bakshi 11-4, 11-1, 11-6. She is 7-1 for the season.
Earning the Liberty League's Women's Squash Honor Roll recognition is first-year Da'Nerah Chisholm, who finished her weekend in Connecticut with a 2-1 record. She started the weekend with a win at the four spot, defeating Haverford's Avallina Orfield 3-0, 11-4, 11-7, 11-5. On Saturday, Chisholm beat Miranda I Medina of Connecticut College 9-11, 11-6, 11-1, 11-3. In her final match of the weekend, she fell to Penelope A Furnas of Wesleyan University by the score of 10-12, 5-11, and 7-11. She is now 6-5 on the season.
The two teams' next home match is Sunday, February 8, at 11 a.m. Denison will host Chatham University for its second home match of the season. Ahead of their February matches both Juan Felipe Hernandez and Charlotte Jones will be competing in the 2026Â CSA Individual Championships, which goes from January 23 through 25.
