Granville, Ohio- Join Denison University women's lacrosse team in welcoming its newest full-time assistant coach, Katherine Yarusso. A West Deptford, New Jersey native, Yarusso brings over eight years of coaching experience as she enters her first season as a Big Red.
Since 2022, she has been in Chester, Pa., as the assistant coach and defensive coordinator for Widener University's women's lacrosse program. While there, she took the lead in assessing personnel's talent, IQ, and skill sets, creating a variety of defensive systems to complement the current players. While at Widener, she coached 15 All-MAC Commonwealth Conference Athletes (five athletes in 2025, '24, '23, four All-Region athletes, two IWLCA Senior All-Star Selections, and the All-MAC Rookie Player of the Year in 2025. Her coaching efforts at Widener earned her the opportunity to be a part of the inaugural cohort of the IWLCA Aspire Program.
Before landing at Widener, Yarusso coached with the South Jersey Shamrocks Lacrosse Club as both an assistant and a head coach. Throughout her time with the Shamrocks, she coached three separate teams with over 18 different high schools and middle school programs represented. She worked with athletes in preparing them for their collegiate recruiting process, utilizing her knowledge of the game to help players optimize their potential and improve their skills through relevant drills and programs.
Yarusso was a four-year varsity letter winner and three-year starter with the Montclair State University women's lacrosse program. She was a 2021 NJAC Defensive Player of the Week. Yarusso earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and holds a Master's of Arts in Social Research and Data Analysis.
