Granville, Ohio - The Denison Baseball team has been awarded the 2024-25 Team Academic Excellence Award for their hard work on and off the field. The award is given out to nearly 750 programs ranging from high school to college for their academic achievement.
After a historic season ending in the program's first College World Series appearance and first 40-win season, the Big Red baseball team has been honored with the ABCA/Sports Attack Team Academic Excellence Award. The ABCA has recognized 440 college programs and nearly 300 high school programs for their work in the classroom. Coaches were able to nominate their teams for the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award following the conclusion of their spring semesters prior to the nomination deadline of July 18th.
 To be honored, teams had to meet the following criteria:
- Must be a high school or college team
- Head coach must be a current ABCA member
- Team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale for the 2024-25Â
- academic year
Founded in 1945, the ABCA is the primary professional organization for amateur baseball coaches at the amateur level. It's over 15,000 members span all 50 states and 41 countries. Since its first meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, the association has expanded to include nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth, and Travel.
