Granville, Ohio- (June 24, 2025)- Five members of the Denison Men's Track and Field team were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators' Men's Track and Field Academic All-District® Team this week. Congratulations to
Andrew D'Asaro,
Oliver DiCerbo,
Pierce Patterson,
Justin Tharayil, and
Leo Wisnefski.
Andrew D'Asaro- Throws *
D'Asaro, a senior javelin thrower from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, earned his second CSC Academic All-District® Team nod after having a spectacular senior season. In his final North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship, he finished runner-up in javelin with a throw of 58.51m. His throws throughout the season allowed him to qualify for his third consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championships, where he earned first-team All-American honors after finishing eighth with a throw of 63.02m. D'Asaro is also the current record holder in javelin: 64.07m (210'2"), which was set at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic (4/12/2024)
Oliver DiCerbo- Distance
DiCerbo, a junior distance runner from Lexington, Massachusetts, took home his first CSC Academic All-District® Team selection after recording three personal best times this season. During the indoor season, he finished the mile run in 4:18.76 for sixth place, and at the Division III All-Ohio Championships took fifth place in the 1,500m run. DiCerbo wrapped the 2024-25 season with a 15:46.30 time in the 5000m run for a 14th-place finish at the NCAC Outdoor Championships.
Pierce Patterson- Sprints
Patterson, a sophomore sprinter from Bronxville, New York, earned his first CSC Academic All-District® Team nod after having solid performances at both the indoor and outdoor NCAC Championships. He earned All-NCAC honors in the 400m dash at both championships. At the indoor championships, he helped the Big Red to a third-place finish in the 4x200m relay (1:30.72), and in the outdoor championships, he and his teammates ran a 3:20.23 4x400m relay for third place.
Justin Tharayil- Jumps/Combined Events
Tharayil, a junior combined events student-athlete from Evanston, Illinois, was selected to the CSC Academic All-District® Team for the first time after improving his sophomore year point total in the NCAC Decathlon by over 400 points and finishing in fifth place. Tharayil improved his times and marks in six of the ten events as indicated by an asterisk below. Three top-three finishes highlighted his performance across the two-day championships, a first-place finish in the high jump, a second-place finish in the 1,500m run, and a third-place finish in the javelin.
Leo Wisnefski- Distance
Wisnefski, a sophomore distance runner from Cranford, New Jersey, earned his first CSC Academic All-District® Team selection following a strong third season with the Big Red. During the indoor season, he ran a personal best of 4:26.21 in the mile at the Wittenberg Invitational, and later, during the outdoor season, he finished first in the 800m run at the Dension Invitational.
