2025 Men's Lacrosse Tournament Preview: Denison Takes on Dickinson

Granville, Ohio- The No. 20 Denison University men's lacrosse team makes its 29th appearance all-time and 11th since 2010 this weekend in Salisbury, Md. The Big Red (13-6) earned an at-large berth, a first-round bye in the 40-team field, and will travel to Salisbury (19-0) for a second-round matchup against Dickinson (13-5) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. 

Denison will be competing in its 50th postseason game since 1982. The Big Red has a 21-28 record in the national tourney and has advanced to the national semifinals four times, the last of which was in 2017.

Dickinson qualified for the NCAA Division III postseason tournament by winning the Centennial Conference Championship, defeating Swarthmore, 11-8, in the semifinals and top-seeded Gettysburg, 13-11, in the title game. The Red Devils posted a 7-1 record in conference play and will be making their fourth consecutive and eighth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Dickinson owns a 10-8 record in national tournament play and advanced to the third round last season after earning a first-round bye.

Denison and Dickinson have met six times in program history, with the series tied at 3-3. The most recent matchup came in 2022, when the Red Devils earned a 14-10 victory. The Big Red will look to break the deadlock in their seventh all-time meeting.

2022 - Ranked #19 - Defeated Grove City 14-13 in the Second Round (First Round bye - won NCAC). Lost to York (Pa.) 16-4 in the Third Round. 
2021 - Ranked #14 - Lost to Centre 12-11 in the first round
2019 - Ranked #9 - Defeated Concordia Wisconsin 12-6 in the Second Round (First Round bye - won NCAC). Defeated Rhodes 11-7 in the Third Round. Lost to Salisbury 19-10 in the Quarterfinals. 
2018- Defeated Illinois Wesleyan 25-9 in the Second Round (First Round bye - won NCAC). Lost to Ohio Wesleyan 11-10 in the Third Round  
2017 - Best tournament performance in program history (NCAC offensive player of the year Liam Rooney, NCAC defensive player of the year Ben Duhoski, NCAC specialist of the year Henry DeCamp, 5 All-Americans). Defeated Carthage 17-9 in the Second Round (First Round bye - won NCAC). Defeated Illinois Wesleyan 25-11 in the Third Round. Defeated Lynchburg in the Quarterfinals  18-9. Lost to Salisbury 12-11 in the semifinals. 
2016 - Defeated Carthage 19-2 in the first round. Defeated Aurora 12-3 in the Second Round. Lost to Salisbury 11-10 (OT) in the Quarterfinals. 
2014 -  Defeated Centre 19-4 in the first round. Defeated Aurora 11-8 in the Second Round. Lost to Salisbury 15-5 in the Quarterfinals. 
2011 - Defeated Ohio Wesleyan 7-6 in the First Round. Lost to RIT 13-12 (OT) in the Second Round.
