Granville, Ohio (April 29, 2025)- Denison University Athletics earned seven North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards for the week ending on Sunday, April 27. Sam Larson was named the Baseball Pitcher of the Week, while senior Sydney Silverstein nabbed her sixth career Softball Pitcher of the Week honor. Fellow softball teammate Annabelle Calderon earned her fourth Softball Player of the Week honor, while women's lacrosse senior Attack Anna DeVuono was named Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week. Denison had three members of the men's and women's track and field teams earn Athlete of the Week honors. On the men's side, sophomore Pierce Patterson earned Men's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week, while teammate Leo Wisnefski earned the Men's Distance Athlete of the Week. Rounding out the seven honorees is senior Anaya Jolivette, who earned her fifth Women's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week.

Sam Larson- Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Larson, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Lake Forest, Ill., went six innings and recorded 11 strikeouts, no walks, and allowed just three hits. He gave up no runs in the Big Red's 10-0 shutout over Marietta College. 

Sydney Silverstein- Softball Pitcher of the Week
Silverstein, a senior right-handed pitcher from Atlanta, Ga., went 2-0 on the week, with both wins being shutouts. Her eight shutouts tie the Denison and NCAC shutout record set in 2001. She finished the week with a 0.00 ERA, giving up only nine hits in 12 innings and tacking on seven strikeouts.

Annabelle Calderon- Softball Player of the Week
Calderon, a senior catcher from Perris, Calif., had a batting average of .733 across the four games last week, going 11-for-15 at the plate. She scored eight runs, recorded four RBIs, had six doubles, one homerun, and one walk. Calderon had no strikeouts and was 1-for-1 on stolen bases. 

Anna DeVuono- Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week
DeVouno, a senior attack from Devon, Pa., scored ten goals, and had one assist for 11 points in Denison's two conference wins. DeVuono's efforts helped the Big Red secure the NCAC regular-season championship.

Pierce Patterson- Men's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Patterson, a sophomore sprinter from Bronxville, N.Y., took home first place in the 400m dash at the Denison Big Red Invitational, after crossing the finish line in 49.49 seconds. His time ranks him third in the NCAC, and it is the eighth-best time in school history.

Leo Wisnefski - Men's Distance Athlete of the Week
Wisnefski, a sophomore distance runner from Cranford, N.J., ran the 800m run in 1:57.30 a personal best that earned him a first-place finish at the Denison Big Red Invitational. He also ran the third leg of the second-place 4x400m relay (3:31.34).

Anaya Jolivette- Women's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Jolievette, a senior on the women's track and field team from San Francisco, Calif., finished first in the 200m (25.52) and in the 4x400 relay after crossing the finish line in 48.91. She also secured a second-place finish in long jump, jumping a distance of 4.85m.

Denison Milestones
Sydney Silverstein (Softball): Tied the Denison and NCAC single-season shutout record with eight total shutouts this season. 

Annabelle Calderon (Softball): Broke the Denison career doubles record with 50, the previous record was 46.  She also broke the total bases career record with 342, which was previously 329.  

Denison Softball Team record: In the Marietta game, the team broke the single-season home run record. The record was 33; Denison currently has 38.

Erik Sundgren (Baseball): Tied the single-season home run record with 13
