Annabelle Calderon of the Denison Softball team has been named to the Academic All-America® First Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators for the 2024-25 season.
Calderon (Perris, Calif. | Biology), a recipient of the Denison President's Medal, two-time Diamond Sports/NFCA Catcher of the Year, and two-time North Coast Athletic Conference Catcher of the Year, was named to the Academic All-America® First Team. She wrapped her career with the Big Red and became Denison's record holder for batting average, doubles, slugging percentage, home runs, and total bases. As the starting catcher for the Big Red, she finished her senior season with 161 putouts, 15 assists, and a fielding percentage of 0.983.
This achievement raises Denison's total to 128 Academic All-Americans® in school history. Calderon earned her first Academic All-America® honors, adding to softball's Academic All-America® recognition, which now totals two. She is the only player to receive first-team honors.
Established in 1952, the Academic All-America® program, selected by College Sports Communicators, is a premier nationwide college scholar-athlete awards program. It annually recognizes over 1,400 outstanding student-athletes across Division I, II, III, and NAIA, representing all NCAA championship sports.
