Greensboro, N.C. (March 19, 2025)- Day one of the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships has wrapped, and the Denison University women's team is in third place through five of 20 events. Denison totaled 87 points after day one. The Big Red trail MIT, who sits in second with 93 points, and in first place is fellow North Coast Athletic Conference program Kenyon College with 104 points.
In the day's first event, 500 freestyle, Denison secured an A and B final qualifier for the 500 freestyle. Swimming a 4:51.20 in the A final 500 free,
Quinn Brown finished in fourth, earning her a first-team All-American not. Qualifying for the B final,
Taryn Wisner finished 15th overall with a time of 4:58.98 , earning her 12th All-American honor.
Phoebe Ferguson and
Emily Harris later qualified for the A final of the 200 IM, finishing in sixth (2:02.22) and seventh (2:02.33), respectively. Earning second-team All-American honors in the 200 IM B final was junior
Drue Thielking, who finished 11th overall with a time of 2:02.62.
The final two first-team All-American finishers for day one were
Grace Kadlecik, who finished eighth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.18, notching her 10th All-American finish. In the last event of the day, Denison's
Jassy Park,
Drue Thielking,
Phoebe Ferguson, and
Avery Vogen swam the 400 medley relay in 3:41.75 for a fifth-place finish giving them a slight edge over NYU and Emory heading into day two.
