Box Score Orange, Calif.- The No.4 Denison men's tennis team extended its win streak to four after defeating No.32 Chapman University 6-1 to open its Spring Break stretch in California. The Big Red improved to 6-1 for the season, while the Panthers dropped to 1-4.

In doubles play, the Big Red jumped to a quick 1-0 lead after Kael Shah and Ethan Green defeated Chapman's Caleb Wilkins and Ben Jorgenson 6-3 on court one, followed by Jacob Patterson and Colin Gramley defeating Ian Jordan and Lachlan Dickinson 6-3 on court two. On court three, Denison's Chika Nwaozuzu and Nick Meyers battled with Chapmans' Aram Izmirian and Andy Hess but fell short in a late comeback, falling 7-6 (7-5) to the Panthers.

Denison continued to pull away in its singles matches, with Jacob Patterson and Ethan Green wrapping up their matches just a minute apart to put the Big Red up 3-0 over the Panthers. Two minutes later, on court four, Nick Meyers clinched the victory for Denison, defeating Adrian Daoust 6-1, 6-1. The final three matches were endurance matches. Mason Conlin would best his opponent, Mac Caldwell, 6-2, 7-5, on court five, and on court six, Ryan Patrick came from behind to defeat the Panthers' Lachlan Dickinson. Chapman would secure one singles match win after Caleb Wilkins beat Kael Shah 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 on the top flight.

"It is always tough to move from indoor tennis to outdoor tennis after being inside for five months", shared Head Coach Davind Schilling. " I thought the guys did a decent job of adjusting, however, we will need to compete a little harder the rest of the week if we hope to be be able to play with the top teams in the country. It is a short turnaround with a match v. #19 Redlands tomorrow. Hopefully we can continue to improve in this area."
