Oberlin, Ohio- After the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Denison women's track and field teams sit in third place, and
Mariel Drost earned the Big Red's first All-NCAC title of the weekend. The women's team totaled 27 points after day one with two All-Conference performances and five top-eight finishes.
Day 1 Highlights
The women kicked off the day with a bang, after sophomore
Mariel Drost earned the title of NCAC women's weight throw champion, after throwing a distance of 13.90m, making Drost the first in program history to earn the NCAC weight throw title. Denison's
Jane McNamara, Lillian Wallace Larkin, Evangelina Spoarks, and
Fiona Martinelli finished second in the distance medley with a time of 12:47.31. The remaining point-getters for the Big Red were
Sydney Brown and
Julia Schena who competed in the pentathlon last week, earning Denison eight points, as well as
Emery Kurth, who finished eighth in high jump with a height of 1.46m.
