PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 28) — The Denison University men's squash team delivered a dominant performance in the opening round of the 2025 CSA Divisional Team Championships, sweeping Bard College 9-0 at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center. The Big Red controlled every match from start to finish, not dropping a single game in the decisive victory.
Denison's senior leadership was on full display as Tarun Mammen, Lucas Piller, and Rayan Dar set the tone for a strong start to the weekend. Mammen delivered an efficient win at No. 2, defeating Miguel Rodriguez 3-0 (11-1, 11-3, 11-0), while Piller overwhelmed Jacob Nathan 3-0 (11-1, 11-1, 11-1) in a near-flawless performance at No. 3. Dar capped off the senior dominance with a commanding 3-0 win at No. 7 over Yashar Khan (11-2, 11-2, 11-4) in 15 minutes.
At the top of the lineup, Juan Felipe Hernandez set the tone with a commanding 3-0 win over Artemy Mukhin (11-2, 11-7, 11-4). Gus Nelson followed with a dominant showing at No. 4, cruising past Joas Erasmus (11-2, 11-3, 11-1) in just 13 minutes.
Owen Mullaly and Wylly Molten kept the momentum rolling in the bottom half of the lineup, both securing straight-set victories. Mullaly took down Faisal Jones 3-0 (11-1, 11-0, 11-1) in just 10 minutes, while Molten defeated George Miahkov (11-0, 11-1, 11-3).
With the first-round win, Denison advances to the next round of the CSA Divisional Team Championships. The Big Red will face Hobart College in round three of the tournament at noon tomorrow, with the outcome determining Sunday's matchups.
