Gambier, Ohio- The Denison women's swimming and diving team competed at Kenyon College's First Chance Invitational for one final tune-up before the NCAA Division III Championships. Multiple swimmers improved their conference championship times, with a handful of student-athletes recording personal best times and moving up their respective events rankings, heading into postseason competition.
Sophomore Jena Lawlor shaved three seconds off her North Coast Athletic Conference 500-yard free time after finishing with a time of 5:01.19. Fellow sophomore Erika Schraber knocked five seconds off her NCAC 400-yard IM time after swimming it in 4:26.78. First-year Audrey Brink swam the 200-yard breast in 2:18.18, improving her conference time by three seconds.
Seniors Annie Pfeufer and Taryn Wisner rounded out the women's team's performance, with Pfeufer remaining consistently close to her personal best in the 200-yard free after swimming it in 1:52.04. Lastly, Wisner swam the 1650-yard free 13 seconds faster than just a week ago at conference championships, moving her up from 26th to the top 20 times in the nation.
The Big Red returns to the pool deck on Saturday, February 22, at 12 p.m. for Kenyon College's Fast Chance Meet.
