GRANVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 13) – The Denison women delivered another impressive performance on the second day of the 2025 NCAC Swimming & Diving Championships, winning two events and setting a new NCAC record to remain in second place with 685 points. The Big Red closed the gap on Kenyon, which leads the team standings with 721 points heading into the final two days of competition at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
Denison junior Quinn Brown opened the night in dominant fashion, claiming the 500 freestyle title with an NCAA "B" cut time of 4:47.51. Brown's performance not only secured a crucial victory for the Big Red but also set a new NCAC record in the process.
In the 200 IM Denison saw on top three finish along with three NCAA "B" cut times. Emily Harris earned bronze with a NCAA "B" cut time of 2:03.13. Phoebe Ferguson and Drue Thielking followed right behind with times of 2:03.52 and 2:04.45 respectively.
In the 50 freestyle, Denison junior Grace Kadlecik defended her title in the event, clocking in at 23.11 for another NCAA "B" cut. Her first-place finish pulled the Big Red within 28 points of Kenyon, as Denison continued to keep pace with the defending champions. Fellow senior Amber Croonquist also earned a NCAA "B" cut time with her second-place finish (23.42).
The night concluded with the 400 medley relay where Denison took second place. The team of Jasmine Park, Thielking, Emma Pritchett, and Harris clocked in with a NCAA "B" cut time of 3:41.73. The Big Red put together a strong relay performance to put them just 36 points behind Kenyon heading into the final two days of competition.
Denison will look to continue its momentum on day three of the NCAC Championships. Preliminary events resume Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by finals at 6:00 p.m.
