Men’s Squash Splits, Defeat Vassar for their Second Win of the Season

Clinton, N.Y. - The Big Red traveled to Clinton, New York for a two-match day in which the Big Red split with a morning loss to Hamilton College before bouncing back in the afternoon to take a 6-3 win over Vassar. Denison was led by Juan Felipe Hernandez, who swept both of his opponents, and Owen Mullaly with big-time sweeps of his own to help elevate the Big Red.

Denison put up a valiant effort throughout all spots, but just fell short in their match against Hamilton. Juan Felipe Hernandez and Alex DeLuca took home victories in spots one and three, and Owen Mullaly added 3-0 sweep in the nine hole. Jackson Bragman had a battle in the six spot that lasted 55 minutes, but could not come out with the win.

Denison would bounce back in their afternoon slate against Vassar College for a 6-3 win. Hernandez paced the Big Red once again with a one spot win, sweeping his opponent 3-0. Tight wins from Gus Nelson and Aimaan Zakaria were a difference maker in lifting Denison for their second win of the season. The Big Red had three sweeps in the win, two of them being the top spots.
