Farmington, Pa. - The Big Red were back in action Monday and Tuesday after a four-week hiatus for the Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. In a tough field of 16 teams, the women golfers fought hard through dreary conditions to secure a top-half finish with a score to par of +36.
Denison were led by junior Natalia Fanucchi, who circled six birdies on the card in her first round 70, the team's lowest round of the fall. Trying to keep dry on day two, Fanucchi carded a 77 to bring her two-day total to an impressive +3, 147. Fanucchi was Denison's top individual finisher in the event, tying for 20th in a crowded field.
Additionally, senior Isabella Dolan, sophomore Siena Maschke, and junior Lizzy Grant all placed in the top 50. Dolan finished T39 after her +10, 154 (73-81). Maschke, who placed second in September's Transylvania Kickoff Classic, tied for 45th with a +12, 156 (77-79). Grant improved on her first round 81 with a 78 on day two, sufficient for a T49 (+15, 159).
Senior Anna Klass rounded out Denison's five competitors in a tie for 56th, shooting a +17, 161 (77-84).
