Columbus, Ohio-. Inside Ohio State's French Field House, Denison women's fencing faced tough competition at the Ohio State University Open to start the 2025-26 season. In addition to OSU, Wayne State and Cleveland State were also in attendance. Since this was an individual open, the tournament also attracted fencers of all ages from all over Ohio as well as neighboring states.
Top finishers for Denison:
Senior Velma Hall led the day with her Bronze Medal in Women's Foil, after completing the day with four victories and an indicator score of +8 in her pool. In Epee, Claire Anderson finished in sixth place with a 3-2 record for the day and an indicator score of +7. Earning the top Sabre finish for the day was Natalie Isberg, who finished in sixth place with a 3-2 record for the day and an indicator score of +7, earning her a new ranking of D25.
The first years all had strong showings, with Tessa Randleman's sixth-place finish in Epee as the standout performance among first-year competitors.Â
