GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 29, 2024) – Denison University junior swimmer
Patrick Daly qualified for the 2024 United States Olympic Trials at the 2024 TYR Pro Swim Series in San Antonio on Saturday, April 13.

Daly qualified for the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.47 and was 15th out of 65 swimmers in the event. The official time standard set by USA Swimming is 2:03.49. It is Daly's first trial cut. He will now compete at the US Olympics Trials in Indianapolis in June.
"Making the Olympic Trials has been a long-time goal of mine, ever since watching the 2016 Olympic Trials and being incredibly inspired by the best in the sport," said Daly. "Qualifying a few weeks ago has been surreal, and I am very excited about the opportunity to swim on the biggest stage in USA swimming. The meet will be mostly Division I and II and pro swimmers, so getting the opportunity to represent Denison as one of the few DIII participants is something I am very excited about."
Through his first three seasons in Granville, Daly, a native of New Albany, Ohio, is a 13-time NCAA Division III All-American, a four-time North Coast Athletic Conference Champion and an 18-time All-NCAC performer. He was the 2022 NCAC Newcomer of the Year and was the 2024 NCAC Swimmer of the Year this past season. Daly has won the NCAC Championship in the 200 IM during each of the last two years and has gone from finishing 12th in the event at the NCAA Division III Championships as a freshman to finishing sixth in each of the last two seasons.
"It's gratifying to see Patrick take this next step in his development as a swimmer," spoke Denison's Head Swimming Coach
Gregg Parini. "Making Olympic Trials has been a long-term goal of his and he's worked diligently and intentionally to qualify for the meet. He's come a long way in a short period of time - dropping significant time in all his events but especially his 200 IM. I'm just really excited for him."
Indianapolis, Indiana, will host the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials (June 15-23). For the first time ever, the event will be staged on a football field as Lucas Oil Stadium is tapped to host the Olympic-qualifying meet in front of hundreds of thousands of families, friends and fans over nine days.
Daly concluded, "I have nothing but positive things to say about the whole Denison community and my time here, my parents and I are extremely grateful for the opportunities that this place has given us. Swimming-wise, this coaching staff and team have taken me to levels I didn't think were possible, and I am looking forward to one last dance next year with our ultimate team goal of being the 2025 National Champions."
