DELAWARE, Ohio (March 27, 2024) – The No. 31-ranked Denison University women's tennis team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 9-0 on the road to improve to 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference this season.
Dasha Chistyakova and
Ariana Rodriguez raced to an 8-0 win over Evaleigh Garnett and Riley Brokaw at No. 3 doubles to get the match started.
Anna Leach and
Elizabeth Hoo followed with an 8-3 win over Francesca Nuss and Lily Hershey at No. 2 doubles before
Caroline Kittle and
Peyton Oda finished off an 8-2 victory over Kaitlyn Quinn and Shanzay Ali in the top spot.
In singles, Chistyakova defeated Quinn 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot, Oda defeated Ali 6-1, 6-2 in the top spot, and Leach came out on top 6-3, 6-2 over Hershey at the No. 4 position.
The final three matches saw Kittle defeat Nuss 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while Hoo defeated Emma Pzedpelski 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Rodriguez won 6-2, 6-0 over Maisie Dugger at No. 6 singles.
Denison improved to 8-5 overall and has now earned 36 straight wins against the Battling Bishops since the 1996 season.
For the second day in a row, the Big Red will play on the road in NCAC action as they head to Springfield, Ohio, to battle Wittenberg University starting at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow (Mar. 28).
