Six Big Red Land on Women’s Tennis All-NCAC Teams

Cleveland, Ohio - The North Coast Athletic Conference has recently released their all-conference teams, and a total of six Big Red have earned distinction. Senior Peyton Oda and sophomore Caitlin Van Winkle landed on the first team in singles, while junior Dasha Chistyakova and first-year Rafaella Ramos earned second team honors. In doubles, Oda and Ramos secured first team, while Chistyakova and Van Winkle were second team, and first-year Maddie Larsen along with junior Maia Nowicki were named third team.

Singles Selections

First Team

Peyton Oda (Senior | Elk Grove Village, Illinois) - Oda now becomes a three-time first team All-NCAC selection after posting another solid season on the court. The senior racked up a 14-6 duals record, all in the No. 1 flight, and posted a perfect 6-0 record in conference play, defeating top-ranked competition along the way. Through her career, she is ranked in the top-10 in program history in combined career wins, doubles wins, and singles wins.

Caitlin Van Winkle (Sophomore | Indianapolis, Indiana) - Van Winkle becomes a two-time first team All-NCAC selection in singles, as she was Newcomer of the Year last season. The Indianapolis, Indiana native has compiled a 12-5 record in duals across multiple flights, facing top-ranked opponents throughout the season. In conference play, she tallied a 4-1 record in the No. 2 and 3 flights, providing consistency in the top half of the lineup.

Second Team

Dasha Chistyakova (Junior | Dublin, Ohio) - Chistyakova continues her run of being named to an all-conference team, this time landing second team honors. The junior has tallied a 19-5 duals record, the most wins in the dual category, playing across four flights. She has posted a 4-0 record in the No. 2 spot, and a 7-0 record in the No. 3 flight. In NCAC play, Chistyakova has compiled a 6-1 record, defeating some of the top competition across the conference in the middle positions.

Rafaella Ramos (First-year | Lima, Peru) - First-year Rafaella Ramos earns second team All-NCAC honors after an impressive rookie campaign. She posted a 13-5 record in duals matches, playing in the No. 2 and 3 flights. Ramos went a perfect 6-0 in the No. 2 flight, and 7-5 in the No. 3. In the NCAC, she went 4-1 playing most of her matches in the No. 2 flight.

Doubles Selections

First Team

Peyton Oda/Rafaella Ramos - The senior and first-year duo land first team honors for the first time as doubles partners, with Oda earning back-to-back first team nods, and Ramos capturing her first. The two went 11-6 in duals competition all at the No. 1 position. In conference play, they went 3-1 across all other schools top duos, proving to be one of the best in the category.

Second Team

Dasha Chistyakova/Caitlin Van Winkle - Chistyakova and Van Winkle bump up to second team this season after both earning third team distinction a season ago. The duo went 12-5 overall, posting a 9-5 record in the No. 2, while going perfect in the No. 1 flight with a 3-0 record. In conference play, they went 3-0 in the No. 2 flight, competing with tough conference opponents throughout the season.

Third Team

Maddie Larsen (First-year | Maple Grove, Minnesota)/Maia Nowicki (Junior | Des Plaines, Illinois) - The final all-conference selection of doubles finds Maddie Larsen and Maia Nowicki, who land on third team. The pair went 12-2 in duals competition, mainly playing in the No. 2 and 3 spots throughout the season. They went 4-0 in the No. 2, and 8-2 in the No. 3, and in conference play went 2-1. It is Larsen's first all-conference selection, white Nowicki's third-consecutive and first third team honor.

The Big Red finished their season 19-5 overall and a 6-1 record in conference play, and advanced all the way to the NCAC Tournament Championship.
