Wisner, Harris improve qualifying times to lead No. 1 Big Red at Kenyon Fast Chance

GAMBIER, Ohio (February 24, 2024) – Select members of the No. 1 Denison University women's swimming team competed at the 2024 Kenyon Fast Chance Invitational looking to improve or set National "B" cuts prior to next month's NCAA Division III Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. Oliva Morse swam a "B" cut time in the 50 freestyle and just missed doing so in the 100 freestyle while Taryn Wisner went just under her lifetime best in the 200 backstroke with a "B" cut. Lastly, Emily Harris lowered her "B" cut in the 100 butterfly as well.

Morse was second in the 50 freestyle with a "B" cut time of 23.49 seconds while Harris tied for third at 23.93 seconds, Maja Palmroos was fifth at 23.95 seconds and Phoebe Ferguson tied for sixth at 23.99 seconds.

Morse was second again in the 100 freestyle, swimming a time of 51.53 seconds while Wisner (52.30), Jena Lawlor (52.76) and Amber Croonquist (52.83) finished in order between fifth and seventh place, respectively.

Tara Witkowski won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.35 while Phoebe Ferguson was fourth at 1:53.82.

Jassy Park was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.10 seconds while Wisner (58.15) and Lauren Richier (58.31) finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth place.

Harris won the 200 backstroke at 2:03.77 while Emma Pritchett was fifth at 2:06.72. In her time trial in the 200 backstroke, Wisner was first with a "B" cut of 2:02.61.

Riley Tofflemire was second in the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.20 while Haley Thier was third in the 200 breaststroke at 2:27.61.  

Harris had her third top-three finish of the meet with a second-place time of 55.64 seconds in the 100 butterfly, which was also good for a "B" cut, while Croonquist was fourth at 56.75 seconds.

In the 200 butterfly, Nikki Barnas (2:07.46), Kayla Tehrani (2:11.14) and Erika Schraber (2:11.27) finished in order between second and fourth place, respectively.

Witkowski was second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.49 while Tofflemire was sixth at 2:12.97; and Drue Thielking was first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:35.35.

Next up, the Denison divers will be in action on March 1-2 for the 2024 NCAA Division III Central Diving Regional that will be hosted by the Big Red inside the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
