GAMBIER, Ohio (February 23, 2024) – Select members of the No. 5 Denison University men's swimming team competed at the first-ever Kenyon First Chance Invitational looking to improve or set NCAA Division III National "B" cuts priors to next month's NCAA Division III Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Gavin Jones had the big swim of the night with a National "B" cut time of 1:58.36 to win the 200 breaststroke while
Devin Testin was first with a "B" cut time of 1:48.66 in the 200 backstroke.
In the 50 freestyle,
Richie Stewart (21.00) was third and
Luke Dauer (21.41) was fourth; and in the 100 freestyle
Andre Beduschi (47.19) was second and
George Wang (47.72) was third.
Christian Narcelles won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:41.36 while Beduschi (1:41.63) was second and
Ryan Foreback (1:42.35) was third.
Sam Myaard won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:32.45 while
Emmett Harmon (52.85) was first in the 100 backstroke.
Behind Testin in the 200 backstroke was
Luke Swiggett at 1:50.97; and
Josh Thomas (56.16) was third in the 100 breaststroke while
Riccardo Ricciardi (57.42) was fourth.
Dylan Escano was second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.84 seconds while Harmon was fourth at 50.96 seconds; and
Max Soja won the 200 butterfly with a "B" cut of 1:48.96 while
Connor Brown won the 400 IM at 4:00.92.
After hosting the first-ever First Chance Invitational today, Kenyon will host its annual Fast Chance Invitational starting at 12 p.m. tomorrow (Feb. 24).
