PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 16, 2024) – The No. 27-ranked and seventh-seeded Denison University men's squash team participated in the quarterfinals of the Summers Cup division at the 2024 College Squash Association (CSA) Divisional Team Championships on Friday and lost 7-2 to No. 22-ranked and second-seeded Navy.

Jack Jones defeated Holden Woodward 3-1 (4-11, 11-7, 14-12, 11-4) at the No. 9 seed and Tarun Mammen swept Henry Sparkman 3-0 (11-7, 11-9, 12-10) at the No. 2 seed.

Juan Felipe Hernandez led 2-0 over Matthew Wang in the No. 1 spot before falling by just two points in each of the final three sets (8-11, 4-11, 17-15, 11-9, 11-9), including an extremely high-scoring third set.

Chase Lenfest dropped a close 14-12 score in his first set at the No. 6 seed before ultiamtely falling 3-0 (14-12, 11-8, 11-9) to Tighe Mullarkey.

Denison falls to 10-9 on the season while Navy improves to .500 (14-14) with its second 7-2 win over the Big Red this season.

Now in the consolation bracket semifinals of the Summers Cup, the Big Red will return to action on Saturday, February 17, for the second day of CSA Nationals. Denison will take on No. 26-ranked and sixth-seeded Bates College at 9 a.m. with the winner headed to the consolation bracket finals and the loser going to the seventh/eighth place match. Bates fell 7-2 as well to No. 23-ranked and third-seeded St. Lawrence University in its quarterfinal match.
