CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Dec. 7) – The Denison University squash teams continued their weekend road trip in New England on Saturday as they faced off with Bates College.
The Big Red suffered a 7-2 loss on the women's side. The men's team dropped their match by a 6-2 score.
Women's Recap – Bates 7, Denison 2
The Big Red secured wins at the number one and number eight positions versus the Bobcats. First-year
Charlotte Jones earned the victory in the top spot in four sets. After dropping the opening set by an 11-6 score, Jones responded with three straight set wins (11-7, 11-3 and 11-8).
Virginia Lawrence added a victory in the eighth spot. Lawrence won in straight sets by scores of 11-8, 11-7 and 11-5.
Men's Recap – Bates 6, Denison 3
The Denison men's team claimed three wins.
Juan Felipe Hernandez took the match at the top spot in four sets. Hernandez opened the match by taking the first set by an 11-4 margin. After suffering a setback in the second set, Hernandez won 11-6 in the third set before rolling to an 11-0 win in the fourth to secure the victory.
Rayan Dar swept his way to victory at the eighth spot. Dar won 11-2, 11-7 and 11-9 to claim his win.
Gus Nelson won by default at the number nine position.
Up Next: Denison concludes its weekend by facing Brown University on Sunday, Dec. 8.
