GRANVILLE, Ohio (Dec. 6) – A pair of individual victories highlighted the day of competition Friday for the fifth-ranked Denison swimming team at the 2024 Denison Invitational in the Trumbull Aquatics Center. In addition, the Big Red tallied 15 additional 'B' cut times during day two of competition.
The Big Red have amassed 1104.5 points through two days. That total puts them in second place in the team standings. Emory University leads the way with 1297 points. UIndy is third with 963 team points. Eastern Michigan University (729.5) and Wash U of St. Louis (657) round out the competing schools at the loaded event.
Earning the individual wins were
Emily Harris in the 200 Free. Harris posted an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:48.98 to take the top spot. Later in the evening,
Jassy Park raced to a 'B' cut time of 55.21 in the 100 Back to take first place.
Denison opened the evening session with a runner up effort in the 200 Medley Relay. The grouping of Park,
Riley Tofflemire,
Maja Palmroos and
Grace Kadlecik logged an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:41.63 to finish second.
Erika Schraber finished sixth in the 400 IM with a 4:33.78 in the finals.
The Big Red showed well in the finals of the 100 Fly by putting three swimmers in the top six.
Emma Pritchett was third with a 'B' cut time of 55.20. Palmroos put together a 'B' cut time in prelims (55.60). Palmroos went on to finish fifth in the finals with
Amber Croonquist taking sixth at 56.32.
Brown registered a 'B' cut time in the 200 Free finals. Brown, who finished at 1:49.05, was edged out by Harris.
Tofflemire and
Drue Thielking both earned 'B' cut times in the 100 Breast finals. Tofflemire was third at 1:02.97 while Thielking finished fourth at 1:03.00.
Denison closed the evening with second place effort in the 800 Free Relay. The grouping of Brown,
Annie Pfeufer,
Avery Vogen and Harris put together a 'B' cut time of 7:24.95.
