POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Nov. 10) – The Denison University women's fencing team put together a memorable day at the Vassar Invitational. The Big Red defeated Division III third ranked Johns Hopkins University for the first time in program history on their way to an undefeated showing on Sunday.
The Big Red women's fencing team went 8-0 on the day. In addition to the marquee win over Johns Hopkins, Denison also picked up several wins over Division I schools.

Velma Hall were named MVPs on the day. Corvus had 21 wins and one loss. Velma had 20 wins and one loss.
"We've set beating Johns Hopkins as a marker for this team since year one, and it's taken us six years to get there, but we did it!" Coach Grandbois commented. It's a first step toward our goal of being the #1 team in Division III. The team has been working hard all year, and today it really paid off, not just with the win over Hopkins but this is also the first time we've finished a meet with an undefeated record."

Maggie Zhu also both celebrated their 100th career win at the meet. Isberg clocks in with 113 wins to her name and Zhu wih 112.
Up Next: Denison heads to Providence, Rhode Island for the NFC Duals on Nov. 23-24. The Big Red have posted a 12-1 dual record this season.
